James Laurinaitis

James Laurinaitis has transitioned from a decorated NFL athlete to a respected college football coach, bringing his extensive playing and leadership experience to the sideline. After a decorated collegiate career at Ohio State where he became one of only eight three-time All-Americans in program history, James Laurinaitis went on to achieve significant success in the NFL and as a respected college football coach. During his tenure at Ohio State from 2005 to 2008, Laurinaitis played on four Big Ten championship teams, accumulating 375 total tackles, ranking seventh in school history. His exceptional performance earned him numerous accolades, including the Bronko Nagurski Award in 2006, the Butkus Award in 2007, and two Jack Lambert Trophies in 2007 and 2008.

He was also recognized as the Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Year in both 2007 and 2008, and received the Lott IMPACT Trophy and the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, both in 2008. Laurinaitis graduated from Ohio State University in 2009 with a degree in communications. Following his standout college career, he was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the second round, 35th overall, of the 2009 NFL Draft.

In February 2024, his dedication and expertise were recognized with his appointment as the Linebackers Coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes. This pivotal role allows him to directly influence and develop the next generation of collegiate football talent, building upon his legacy as an acclaimed player and an insightful analyst.
