Part of the Slovenian national team as well as the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA, Luka Dončić is a professional basketball player.
From a young age is was clear that Dončić was a prodigious basketball player. He played for his local team Union Olimpija but was quickly moved up to play with the under 14s team with players four years older than him. When he was just 13 years old he was signed to the youth team with Real Madrid, going on to make his professional debut when he was only 16. He was the youngest player to ever represent the team in the Liga ACB. Over the next few years he made a huge impact on the team, shooting to fame after a series of great performances including winning the 2018 EuroLeague title, being named ACB Most Valuable Player and winning the ACB Best Young Player Award. Dončić started to catch the attention of NBA teams, declaring for the 2018 NBA Draft and being instantly snapped up by the Dallas Mavericks whom he has played with ever since. He was named Rookie of the Year in his first season, as well as being selected to play in an NBA All Star game in just his second year with the team.
Outside of his hugely successful club career, Dončić also represents his home country of Slovenia in international competitions. Appearances include the EuroBasket 2017 and the 2020 Summer Olympics. Dončić looks set for a glittering career, and is one to watch in the coming years.
