Jamie Farr

Jamie Farr is a celebrated actor known for his extensive career in television and film, notably for his role as Corporal Maxwell Klinger on M*A*S*H. After being noticed by an MGM talent scout while attending the Pasadena Playhouse, Jamie Farr made his screen debut in the 1955 film Blackboard Jungle as Santini, initially credited as Jameel Farah until 1959. Farr quickly built a resume with early television appearances, including recurring roles on The Red Skelton Show starting in 1955. Following military service from 1957 to 1959, he returned to television with roles in popular shows such as The Danny Kaye Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and My Three Sons, alongside feature film appearances in The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965) and No Time for Sergeants.

Farr was also inducted into the Boys and Girls Clubs of America Alumni Hall of Fame and honored with the Arab American Institute Foundation’s Special Recognition Award in 2016. The city of Toledo further recognized Farr’s lasting legacy with the naming of Jamie Farr Park in 1998. In 2017, both Jamie Farr and his celebrated character Corporal Maxwell Klinger were inducted into the Toledo Mud Hens’ Celebrity Hall of Fame, highlighting his enduring cultural impact.
