Jamie Tworkowski founded To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) in 2006, a non-profit movement dedicated to mental health awareness. This initiative began with Tworkowski documenting a friend’s battle with depression and addiction in a MySpace blog post and selling t-shirts to fund her treatment. The narrative quickly gained widespread attention, leading to the formal establishment of TWLOHA. Under his leadership, the organization expanded its global reach, responding to individuals in over 100 countries and allocating more than $2.7 million to vital treatment and recovery initiatives.
Tworkowski continued his impactful work with TWLOHA, and in 2015, authored ‘If You Feel Too Much,’ a collection of stories that included the original ‘To Write Love On Her Arms’ narrative. After stepping down as Executive Director of TWLOHA in 2017, Tworkowski maintained his commitment to mental health advocacy while evolving his career path. Prior to his pioneering work with TWLOHA, he developed an entrepreneurial foundation within the surf industry, beginning as a sub-representative for Quiksilver in 1998. He later transitioned to a four-year tenure as a sales representative for Hurley starting in 2002, honing skills in brand development and sales strategies that would later prove instrumental in launching and growing TWLOHA.
Currently, Jamie Tworkowski leverages his entrepreneurial expertise and deep understanding of human connection as a sought-after author and speaker. His work continues to center on mental health awareness, drawing from his transformative experience with TWLOHA and his personal journey. Through his independent ventures, including the NEEDS AN OCEAN brand, Tworkowski continues to inspire audiences globally and apply his distinctive vision to creative and impactful projects.
