The inspirational Jamie Tworkowski is a talented author, speaker, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA), a non-profit group dedicated to helping those who suffer from depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicidal tendencies. He has gone on to inspire audiences at universities, concerts, and conferences across the globe, and has been interviewed by Rolling Stone, NBC Nightly News, and CBS Sunday Morning. He is also a lifelong surfer, and in 2020 founded Needs an Ocean, “a beach brand born from new appreciation.”
Born and raised in North Carolina, Tworkowski rose to fame after he founded To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA). It began as a simple attempt to tell the story of a friend who needed treatment, and soon became an internet phenomenon and global movement. In order to fund his friend’s treatment, he began posting a blog on MySpace and started selling T-shirts. Supported by the bands Switchfoot, Anberlin, and Paramore, TWLOHA became widely recognised in the music world, and its message was spread across the globe. TWLOHA now has a huge online audience and has donated more than $1 million to treatment and recovery organisations. In 2010, Mashable named TWLOHA the “Must-Follow Non-Profit”, and in 2011 TWLOHA was awarded $1 million from the American Giving Awards.
Tworkowski regularly connects with his legions of followers and fans through Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, posting pictures and videos about his inspirational life. He is available for that personalised shout-out via the Cameo platform, and has an official website, jamietworkowski.com.
