Kim Klacik is an American businesswoman and political commentator, currently serving as the Republican nominee for Maryland’s 2nd congressional district in the 2024 general election. Born and raised in Accokeek, Maryland, Klacik has carved out a notable career in both the political and media arenas. She is seeking to succeed retiring U.S. Representative Dutch Ruppersberger in a competitive race against Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski.
Klacik’s political journey began with her candidacy for Maryland’s 7th congressional district in the April and November 2020 elections. Despite losing to Democrat Kweisi Mfume by significant margins, her campaign gained national attention, partly due to her critiques of the district’s living standards and safety issues. Her role as a Republican strategist was highlighted by Fox News in 2019, reflecting her growing influence in the political sphere.
In 2013, Klacik founded Potential Me, a nonprofit organization dedicated to workforce development for women, showcasing her commitment to community and economic empowerment. Her involvement in local media began in June 2021 with WBAL NewsRadio, where she became a full-time midday host in April 2022 before leaving the station in November 2022. She now hosts The Kim Klacik Show on Talk Radio WCBM 680AM Baltimore, further solidifying her presence as a political commentator.
Klacik’s political experience also includes serving on the Baltimore County Republican Central Committee, where she was elected in 2018. Married to Jeffrey Klacik with whom she has a daughter, she currently resides in Middle River, Maryland. The couple is separated, but Klacik continues to focus on her political ambitions and advocacy.
