Janelle Arthur

Janelle Arthur was born on December 12, 1989, in Oliver Springs, Tennessee. Her early career in entertainment began at the age of eight, portraying a young Dolly Parton in Dollywood’s production of Paradise Road. She continued performing in the Pigeon Forge area, including four years as a child and later an adult performer at the Country Tonite Theater, accumulating over 3,000 shows between 1998 and 2009. In 2010, Arthur relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue songwriting and a broader music career.

Arthur’s journey to national acclaim included multiple auditions for American Idol. After participating in seasons ten and eleven, she achieved a breakthrough in season twelve (2012-2013), securing a spot as a Top 5 finalist. Following her time on American Idol, Arthur participated in the American Idols LIVE! Tour 2013. She became a frequent performer at the Grand Ole Opry, with over 25 appearances, establishing her presence in the country music scene. Her debut post-Idol single, “What You Asked For,” was released in May 2014, followed by her first EP, “Janelle,” in November 2015. In 2017, she released “Light Myself on Fire,” a song she co-wrote with Dana Jorgensen and produced by Brad Hill.

In 2018, Arthur expanded her career into acting, starring as country music star Faith Winters in the film “Runnin’ from My Roots.” She contributed five original songs to the film’s soundtrack. Her acting roles also include the romantic comedy “Five Date Rule.” A significant achievement in her music career was recording “Hand Me Downs,” a duet with her musical inspiration, Dolly Parton, which she co-wrote and co-produced. Arthur continues to work as a recording artist, producer, actress, and public speaker.
