Janet Devlin

Janet Maureen Aoife Devlin, born on November 12, 1994, in Gortin, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, is a singer-songwriter. She began her musical journey by uploading videos of her singing to YouTube before gaining wider recognition. In 2011, she auditioned for the eighth series of The X Factor, where she performed Elton John’s “Your Song” and successfully advanced through the competition. Devlin progressed to the live shows, mentored by Kelly Rowland, and consistently received high public votes, topping the public vote for the first four weeks. She reached the quarter-finals of the competition.

Following her time on The X Factor, Devlin continued to develop her music career. In 2012, she began writing and recording her debut album, collaborating with producers like Eliot Kennedy and songwriters including Newton Faulkner, Joshua Radin, and Jack Savoretti. Her debut album, “Hide & Seek,” was released to pledgers in July 2013, funded through a PledgeMusic campaign. The album later saw a general release under the title “Running with Scissors” in June 2014, featuring new material and reworked tracks. This period also included her “My Delirium Tour” in 2014, with dates across the UK and Ireland.

She has since released several EPs and singles, including the introspective track “I Lied to You” in 2018. Her second studio album, “Confessional,” was released in June 2020, accompanied by a book titled “My Confessional,” which delved into the meanings behind the album’s tracks. In 2022, Devlin appeared in the documentary film “Janet Devlin: Young, Female, and Addicted,” where she shared her experiences with alcoholism. Her latest studio album, “Emotional Rodeo,” was released in November 2024, preceded by the single of the same name, which peaked at number 22 on the UK Singles Downloads Chart.
