Jay Baruchel

Jonathan Adam Saunders Baruchel was born on April 9, 1982, in Ottawa, Ontario, and raised in Montreal, Quebec. He began his acting career in 1995, making early appearances on shows like “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” and co-hosting “Popular Mechanics for Kids” from 1997 to 1998. His early career saw him in the classic film “Almost Famous” (2000) as ‘Vic’ and a lead role as ‘Steven Karp’ in Judd Apatow’s series “Undeclared” (2001-2002). He continued to build his filmography with roles in independent films such as “Fetching Cody” (2005) and “Real Time” (2008), alongside more mainstream projects.

Baruchel gained wider recognition through his roles in successful American comedy films, including “Knocked Up” (2007) and as the lead in “She’s Out of My League” (2010). A significant milestone in his career was his voice role as ‘Hiccup’ in the animated film “How to Train Your Dragon” (2010), a character he continued to voice throughout the successful franchise. He also took on the title role in “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” (2010) alongside Nicolas Cage.
