About

Jeff Bennett, born on October 2, 1962, in Houston, Texas, embarked on his acting journey with stage training at the Alley Theatre in Houston. In 1990, he relocated to California with his family, marking the beginning of his distinguished career in voice acting. His first significant voice-over role was Horace “I.Q.” Boothroyd the Third in “James Bond Jr.” (1991–1992). This early role paved the way for a multitude of characters across various animated productions.

Throughout the 1990s, Bennett established himself as a versatile voice talent. He became recognized for roles such as Brooklyn in “Gargoyles” (1994–1996), Petrie in “The Land Before Time” film series starting from the second installment (1994), and Dexter’s Dad in “Dexter’s Laboratory” (1996–2003). A pivotal point in his career came in 1995 when he originated the voice of Johnny Bravo in “What a Cartoon!”. His Elvis Presley-inspired portrayal of the character resonated with audiences, leading to the development of “Johnny Bravo” into a full television series (1997–2004), which garnered critical acclaim and multiple Annie Award nominations.

Demonstrating sustained success into the 2000s and beyond, Bennett continued to amass an impressive number of credits. He voiced Dr. Jacques von Hämsterviel in the “Lilo & Stitch” franchise (2003–2006 for the series, and earlier films), Kowalski in “The Penguins of Madagascar” (2008–2015), and The Man with the Yellow Hat in “Curious George” (2006–2022). His contributions have been recognized with an Annie Award in 2012 for his work on “The Penguins of Madagascar” and a Daytime Emmy Award in 2016 for his performance as Mayor Lusky in “Transformers: Rescue Bots,” solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in the voice-over industry.
