Jeffrey Matthew Driskel was born on April 23, 1993, in Oviedo, Florida. He attended Paul J. Hagerty High School, where he excelled in both football and baseball. In high school, he recorded 4,844 passing yards and 36 touchdowns. His talent was recognized early, as he was named the Maxwell Football Club National High School Player of the Year and the Gatorade Florida Player of the Year in 2010. He also finished first and was awarded MVP at the Elite 11 quarterback competition in 2010. Driskel committed to the University of Florida, where he played for four seasons. After a significant leg injury in 2013, he transferred to Louisiana Tech University for his senior year, passing for 4,026 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2015.
Driskel was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. His professional career as a quarterback saw him play for multiple NFL teams, including the Cincinnati Bengals (2016-2018), Detroit Lions (2019), Denver Broncos (2020), Houston Texans (2021-2022), Arizona Cardinals (2023), Cleveland Browns (2023), and Washington Commanders (2024). A notable career turning point occurred in 2021 when, while with the Houston Texans, he transitioned from quarterback to tight end, showcasing his versatility as an athlete. He has started in 12 NFL games, completing 229 passes for 2,394 yards and 16 touchdowns. His rushing statistics include 417 yards and three touchdowns over his career.
