Jes Macallan

Jes Macallan, born in Sarasota, Florida, on August 9, 1982, began her artistic journey early, training in various dance forms from the age of three through her twenties. This rigorous classical training encompassed modern, jazz, ballet, pointe, tap, and musical theater, with master classes under revered figures such as Luigi, Mia Michaels, and Eddy Toussaint. While pursuing this passion, she also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on International Marketing from the University of Florida. Her studies included a term abroad at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. During her academic period, she engaged in modeling opportunities in Miami, New York, and Milan from 2001 to 2004, which further developed her presence.

Macallan transitioned into acting, studying in Los Angeles before relocating to New York City for a comprehensive Meisner intensive acting program at the Maggie Flanigan Studio. Her acting career began to gain momentum with appearances in television series such as “Shameless” (2011), “Justified” (2011), “Grey’s Anatomy” (2012), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (2012), and “Femme Fatales” (2012). She also starred in the pilot “Crash and Burn,” executive produced by Tony Hawk, and the digital film series “Relationship Status” (2016), executive produced by Milo Ventimiglia, which earned critical acclaim at the Tribeca Film Festival. Her career progressed significantly with lead roles in the ABC drama series “Mistresses,” portraying Josslyn Carver for four seasons (2013–2016), and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” as Ava Sharpe for seven seasons (2017–2022).

Beyond acting, Macallan cultivated a passion for directing, shadowing veteran directors early in her career. In 2016, she independently wrote, produced, and directed the short film “Self, E” as a directorial sample, which was accepted and screened at the Dances with Films Festival. This achievement led to her admission into the competitive Warner Bros. Television Directors Workshop, from which she graduated in 2019. Since then, she has directed episodes for major television series including “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” (2021–2022), “All Rise” (2023), “All American” (2022–2025), “All American: Homecoming” (2024), and “Found” (2025). Alongside partner Nic Bishop, she is involved in adapting novels and producing multiple projects.
