Jillian Rose Reed, born on December 20, 1991, in Hollywood, Florida, embarked on her entertainment career after moving from Northville, Michigan, to Los Angeles, California, at age thirteen. She developed an early interest in musical theater, participating in singing and dancing from age three. Prior to her move, Reed had established herself as a voiceover and commercial actress in the Midwest. This early foundation in performing arts prepared her for a career in Hollywood, where she has since achieved recognition for her work in various productions.
Reed gained initial professional recognition through her recurring role as Goth Girl Symonne in the Showtime series “Weeds” from 2008 to 2009, where she acted alongside Hannah Marks, Alexander Gould, and Mary Louise Parker. This role helped establish her presence as a young actress in the industry. Her career progressed significantly with her role as Tamara Kaplan in MTV’s original scripted series “Awkward.”. Playing the character of Jenna Hamilton’s best friend for five seasons, Reed’s portrayal of Tamara earned her a Young Artist nomination for Lead Actress for Best Performance in a TV series. During her time on “Awkward.”, her younger brother, Robbie Tucker, made a guest appearance alongside her in a Season 2 episode. Beyond television, Reed has appeared in feature films such as “My Super Psycho Sweet 16,” “Age of Dinosaurs,” “Confessions of a Womanizer,” and “Sharon 123.”
Continuously expanding her acting portfolio, Reed has also taken on various guest roles in comedy series, including ‘Duh Girl’ Kelly in NBC’s “Community,” Shannon in “The Middle,” Abbey in Disney Channel’s “Jessie,” and Tessa in Disney’s “Pair of Kings.” Her career also includes appearances on Nickelodeon’s “Zoey 101” and “Supah Ninjas,” as well as guest roles in HBO’s “Hung,” VH1’s “Daytime Divas,” Awesomeness TV’s “Foursome” and “Love Daily,” Jack Black’s “Ghost Ghirls,” and FOX Network’s “Lucifer.” In addition to live-action roles, Reed voices the character of Naomi, Princess Elena’s best friend, in Disney’s animated television series “Elena of Avalor.” Outside of her acting career, Reed actively supports the American Diabetes Foundation, inspired by her older brother’s experience with Type 1 diabetes, and serves as a celebrity board member for the Breaking the Chains Foundation, advocating for eating disorder awareness.
