JP Macura

Jonathan Paul Macura, born on June 5, 1995, in Lakeville, Minnesota, began his basketball career at Lakeville North High School, where he set a school record with 1,811 career points. In his senior year, he averaged 32.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, leading his team to win the 2014 4A state tournament. Following high school, Macura committed to Xavier University, where he played college basketball from 2014 to 2018, receiving the nickname “Dennis the Menace” for his on-court intensity and developing a notable bond with Troy Hannasch, impacting others through his platform.

After going undrafted in the 2018 NBA draft, Macura signed a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets, also playing for their G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm. He made his NBA debut on January 2, 2019, securing 4 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists in 13 minutes. In July 2019, he signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and later joined their G League affiliate, the Canton Charge. On February 9, 2020, Macura signed a 10-day contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, appearing in one game before his contract concluded.

Transitioning to international play, Macura signed with Afyon Belediye of the Turkish Basketbol Süper Ligi in September 2020, averaging 12.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. In July 2021, he moved to Derthona Basket of the Lega Basket Serie A in Italy, where he played until 2023. He then signed with Treviso Basket in August 2024 and subsequently joined Promitheas Patras of the Greek Basketball League in August 2025.
