United States Jim Braude has established a significant career as a legal advocate, union official, and prominent radio and television host in Boston.
Jim Braude is the co-host of Boston Public Radio. He has worked with co-host Margery Eagan for 18 years, first doing a TV show together at NECN then a radio show at WTKK. The duo came to WGBH in 2013. He also held the role of Executive Editor and Host for WGBH News' 'Greater Boston' television program.

He was the founder and first president of the National Organization of Legal Services Workers (NOLSW), a UAW affiliated union which represented staff in civil legal offices for the poor in various states.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1949, James Spencer Braude pursued a strong academic foundation, earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from New York University School of Law. His early career focused on legal services, where he championed housing and prisoner’s rights cases in the South Bronx, New York City. A notable achievement during this period was his role as the founder and inaugural president of the National Organization of Legal Services Workers (NOLSW), a UAW-affiliated union. This organization represented staff in civil legal offices across 35 states and played a critical role in preserving the national program amidst proposals for its abolition.
Braude’s career progressed into public service and advocacy, including his tenure as the executive director of the Tax Equity Alliance for Massachusetts (TEAM), a coalition dedicated to tax reform. He also served as a City Councilor in Cambridge, Massachusetts, further embedding himself in local governance and community issues. Transitioning into media, Braude became a familiar voice and face in Boston’s broadcast landscape. He co-hosted ‘Jim & Margery Show’ on WTKK with Margery Eagan for over a decade, a partnership that continued with ‘Boston Public Radio’ on WGBH when WTKK changed its format in 2013.
Throughout his broadcasting career, Braude expanded his reach to television, hosting ‘Broadside with Jim Braude’ on New England Cable News (NECN). His expertise led him to WGBH News, where he was appointed executive editor and host of the local television news and analysis program, ‘Greater Boston,’ in 2015, succeeding Emily Rooney. He held this position until his departure in December 2022. Jim Braude’s work in broadcast journalism has been recognized with multiple accolades, including a local Emmy award and an Associated Press award for his contributions at NECN.
