Jim Leonhard

Jim Leonhard achieved significant collegiate success, playing in 51 games for the University of Wisconsin where he tied the program record with 21 interceptions. He also broke the Big Ten record for career punt return yards with an impressive 1,347 yards. His exceptional performance earned him three first-team All-America accolades in 2002 and 2004, alongside first-team All-Big Ten honors from 2002 to 2004. Recognizing his contributions, Leonhard was inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015.

In 2023, Leonhard contributed his expertise as a senior football analyst at the University of Illinois before joining the Denver Broncos in 2024. In his current capacity as the Defensive Pass Game Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach for the Broncos, Leonhard continues to demonstrate significant impact. Under his coaching, cornerback Pat Surtain II achieved both AP Defensive Player of the Year and AP All-Pro status in 2024, underscoring Leonhard’s ability to develop elite talent and optimize defensive performance at the highest level of professional football.
