Joseph Vincent Flacco, born on January 16, 1985, in Voorhees Township, New Jersey, began his football journey at Audubon High School. After redshirting at Pittsburgh, he transferred to the University of Delaware in 2005, where he set 20 school records, leading the Fightin’ Blue Hens to the FCS National Championship Game in 2007. His collegiate performance, particularly his strong arm, caught the attention of NFL scouts. In 2008, Flacco was drafted 18th overall by the Baltimore Ravens, becoming the highest-drafted player from the University of Delaware.
Flacco’s NFL career commenced as the starting quarterback for the Ravens in 2008 due to injuries to other players. He quickly made an impact, leading the Ravens to the playoffs in each of his first five seasons. The pinnacle of his tenure with Baltimore came in 2012 when he led the team to victory in Super Bowl XLVII, earning the Super Bowl MVP award. His postseason run that year included tying Joe Montana’s record for 11 touchdown passes without an interception. Following this success, he signed a then-record six-year, $120.6 million contract.
After departing the Ravens in 2019, Flacco continued his professional career with stints at the Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and Philadelphia Eagles. In 2023, he joined the Cleveland Browns, where he won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award, leading the team to a playoff berth. Currently, Flacco is with the Cincinnati Bengals, continuing to demonstrate his veteran presence and enduring talent.
