Joel Retornaz

Joël Retornaz is a hugely talented professional curler who competes for Italy. Retornaz began curling at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming one of the top curlers in Italy. He has represented his country in several international competitions, including the World Curling Championships and the Winter Olympics (competing in 2006, 2018 and 2022).

Against all odds from a country with little expertise in curling, Retornaz led the semi-professional Italian team to multiple astonishing victories against top teams on the global scene. This incredible inception inspired an influx of new curling fans, establishing an era of national interest in the sport. Indeed, Retornaz boasts a successful career as a curler, winning numerous medals at both the national and international level. Most recently, he has attained bronze medals at the European Curling Championships in 2018, 2021 and 2022. On top of these tangible achievements in the rink, Retornaz is known for his sportsmanship and his ability to lead his team. Retornaz has served as skip for the Italian national team on multiple occasions and is well respected by his teammates for his calm demeanor and strategic thinking.
