Actor, voice actor, producer and director John de Lancie is known for his roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
After winning a scholarship for the Juillard School in New York when he was a young man, de Lancie started to land small parts in films and on television. These included in Emergency!, Battlestar Galactica and The Fisher King, and he went on to win the part of recurring character Q in the Star Trek franchise. This led to him starring in several iterations of the show, including Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and most recently Star Trek: Lower Decks. He has even co-written a novel based on his character in the show called I, Q. Other parts in major television shows followed, such as Macgyver, Breaking Bad, The West Wing, and Young Justice, as well as a voice role in My Little Pony. His role as the villain horse Discord has led him to co-produce a documentary about ‘bronies’, adult fans of My Little Pony, which he funded using a Kickstarter campaign.
Alongside his film and television roles de Lancie is also a skilled stage actor, having acted in the American Shakespeare Festival, the Mark Taper Forum and at the Old Globe. This highly talented actor has had a huge range of roles in his life, and continues to appear in the Star Trek franchise and other major productions.
