Super Bowl winner John Harbaugh is the head coach of the National Football League’s Baltimore Ravens. Prior to this, he spent nine years as the Philadelphia Eagles’ special teams coach and trained the defensive backs for the team. On February 3, 2013, the Ravens defeated the 49ers – who were coached by Harbaugh’s brother, Jim Harbaugh – 34-31 in Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans. His father is also a former football head coach at the collegiate level.
Since taking over in 2008, Harbaugh has guided the Ravens to 145 victories (including playoff victories), which ranks fourth in the NFL during that time. Harbaugh has also surpassed Brian Billick to become the head coach with the most victories in Baltimore Ravens team history. He has appeared in 19 playoff games, which is second-most among NFL head coaches since 2008.
Since the 1970 merger, Harbaugh is the only head coach in NFL history to have achieved a postseason victory in each of his first four and five seasons. He also holds the record for the most road playoff victories by a head coach and is the only head coach in NFL history to have won a playoff game in each of his first six seasons of coaching (8). Harbaugh has led the Ravens to four AFC North division titles, three AFC Championship appearances, a franchise-record 14-2 record in 2019, and the Super Bowl XLVII victory.
