Dave Clawson

Dave Clawson is a highly successful American college football coach known for revitalizing programs and achieving consistent winning records, culminating in multiple conference championships and bowl victories. After transforming the program at Fordham University, Dave Clawson led the Rams to their first Patriot League title and a Division I-AA playoff appearance in 2002, just three seasons after taking the helm in 1999. He continued this trajectory of success at the University of Richmond from 2004 to 2007, where he secured two conference titles, including the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship in 2005 and the Colonial Athletic Association Championship in 2007. Clawson further solidified his reputation as a program builder during his time at Bowling Green State University from 2009 to 2013, notably guiding the Falcons to a Mid-American Conference championship in 2013.

That same year, Wake Forest earned its first-ever top-10 national ranking, an achievement repeated in 2022, and Clawson was recognized with the prestigious ACC Coach of the Year award. Clawson concluded his distinguished head coaching career with 157 wins, reaching his 150th career victory in 2023. He holds the unique distinction of being the only Division I head coach to win at least 10 games in a season at four different Division I institutions, underscoring his exceptional ability to revitalize programs and achieve consistent winning records across multiple collegiate environments.
