John Schneider is an American country singer and actor who is best known for his performance as Beauregard Duke in CBS’s The Dukes of Hazzard as well as his nine studio albums.
Hailing from New York, Schnieder found a natural-born talent for performing as a child when he put on magic shows for his friends. A decade later, Schneider landed his big break when he was cast as Bo Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard alongside James Best. His debut role proved a huge success, and Schneider has enjoyed a glittering television and film career. Additional television credits include Dennis in Grand Slam, Larry in Loving, Daniel in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Brett and Michael in Diagnosis Murder, Rich in The Mummy, Ram in Nip/Tuck, Marshall in The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Jeffrey in 90210, Richard in Desperate Housewives, and, notably, the adoptive father of Clark Kent, Jonathan Kent, in Smallville. His film credits include Trevor in The Rebound, and Paul White in Sydney White, among countless others.
As a musician, Schneider has released nine chart-topping albums and dozens of singles. He released his debut album, Now or Never, in the early 80s; an instant hit, the album peaked at number eight on the US Country Billboard charts. Schneider’s discography includes Quiet Man, If You Beleive Me and A Memory Like You, which debuted at number one. A celebrated musician, Schneider was inducted into The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame in 2019.
Additional accomplishments include the creation of his production company, John Schneider Studios, stage performances on Broadway, and an appearance on season twenty-seven of Dancing with the Stars. Today, Schneider continues to star as Jim Cryer in Tyler Perry’s long-running soap The Haves and Haves Not and has several movies in development.
