Johnny Brennan is an American actor, writer, and comedian best known for creating The Jerkey Boys. Brennan formed the act with his childhood friend Kamal Ahmed in 1989. While the Queens-based comedians did not invent the prank call, they turned it into an art and Americans everywhere started to emulate their style. They began to gain fame after the pair made a number of bootleg cassettes of their recorded pranks, which made their way to Howard Stern, who broadcasted the routines on his wildly popular radio show. The calls were made to unwitting recipients, each call was delivered in character, with over-the-top voices often influenced by the duo’s relatives, and a number of recurring characters. Ahmed left the act in 2000 and Brennan continued as a solo act.
“The Jerky Boys,” their debut album, was released in 1993. The album was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America after reaching the top of the Billboard charts. In 1994, “The Jerky Boys 2” was declared double platinum, and “The Jerky Boys 3,” “The Jerky Boys 4,” “Stop Staring at Me!” and “The Jerky Tapes” followed. “The Jerky Boys: The Movie,” was released in 1995. Brennan’s follow-up album was released in November 2020. The act has sold over 8,000,000 albums since its inception in 1993. Brennan briefly had a podcast called “The Jerky Boys Show with Johnny Brennan.” He has also appeared in a number of films outside the franchise including “Big Money Hustlas,” “Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story,” and “Matrics.” Brennan has appeared on over 20 seasons of “Family Guy” and also appeared in their video games.
