Johnny Dee, born John DiTeodoro, Jr. on April 6, 1963, in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, is a self-taught drummer who began playing at the age of 12. His early influences included Peter Criss of KISS and Ian Paice of Deep Purple. His professional career commenced around 1985 with the heavy metal band World War III, where he recorded their self-titled debut the same year. Shortly thereafter, he joined the British hard rock band Waysted, contributing to their 1986 album, “Save Your Prayers.”
In 1987, Dee returned to Philadelphia and became the drummer for the glam metal band Britny Fox. The band achieved significant success with their first two albums, “Britny Fox” (1988) and “Boys in Heat” (1989), both of which charted. Following the departure of singer Dean Davidson in 1990, Dee continued with the band, recording “Bite Down Hard” (1991). In 1993, he joined Doro Pesch’s band, becoming her official drummer and tour manager for US tours, a role he maintains to this day. He has since recorded numerous studio albums and live albums with Doro, including “Doro Live” (1993), “Fight” (2002), and “Forever Warriors, Forever United” (2018).
Dee’s career also includes collaborations and a return to Britny Fox for a period. In 2000, Britny Fox reformed, with Dee participating in their tours and contributing to the live album “Long Way to Live!” (2001) and the studio album “Springhead Motorshark” (2003). He toured with Blaze Bayley in 2002 and worked on guitarist Jack Frost’s solo project, “Raise Your Fist to Metal” (2003). In September 2022, Dee became the new drummer for the hard rock band Tyketto, renewing his collaboration with former Waysted vocalist Danny Vaughn. He continues to actively perform and is involved in planning new music with Tyketto.
