Dees professional journey began in 1985 with the heavy metal band World War III, recording their self-titled debut the same year. He then joined the British hard rock band Waysted, contributing to their 1986 album, ‘Save Your Prayers.’ In 1987, Dee became the drummer for Britny Fox, with their self-titled debut (1988) and follow-up ‘Boys in Heat’ (1989) both achieving commercial success by charting.
