American heavy metal drummer Johnny Dee has played with numerous bands, including glam metal group Britny Fox and Waysted.
Dee is an entirely self taught musician, teaching himself drums aged 12 and joining the local music scene from an early age. He started to meet local musicians and other keen players, and joined band World War ||| when he was around 20 years old. Soon after he also became a part of British rock band Waysted but then made the return to the United States to join Britny Fox. The band enjoyed great success, with their first two albums performing well and becoming popular with fans. By now, Dee was a highly sought after drummer, and joined rock band Mariah, releasing multiple albums with the group and again performing well in the charts with the group’s releases. He then made the move into more mainstream bands, such as Doro and LeCompt, before Britny Fox reformed in 2000 and Dee joined them on their reunion tour. The band released two more albums which were warmly received by both critics and the public.
In recent years, Dee has been involved with various other projects, including an appearance on Jim Stevens 2017 album, several albums with Doro and a re-recording of a selection of UFO’s tracks. This legendary drummer will go down in the history books as one of the most important figures in the heavy metal scene, with numerous writing and recording credits to his name.
