Jordan Ta’amu

Born on December 10, 1997, in Pearl City, Hawaii, Jordan Ta’amu embarked on his football journey at Pearl City High School, where he distinguished himself as a quarterback. During his senior year, he passed for 1,779 yards and threw 29 touchdowns against only four interceptions. Following high school, Ta’amu continued his collegiate career at the New Mexico Military Institute for two seasons, accumulating 3,014 passing yards and 32 touchdowns as a sophomore. In 2017, he transferred to Ole Miss, initially serving as a backup before stepping into the starting role for the final five games of the season. He concluded his junior year with 1,682 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions, in addition to rushing for 165 yards and 4 touchdowns. By 2018, Ta’amu was established as the starting quarterback for Ole Miss, where he achieved 3,918 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions, along with 342 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns. His collegiate performance positioned him as a notable prospect for professional football.

Ta’amu’s professional career commenced with stints in the National Football League (NFL) with various teams, including the Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Washington Football Team, and Carolina Panthers, primarily as an offseason or practice squad member. A significant turning point came with his allocation to the St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL in 2019, where he quickly became the starting quarterback. In the XFL’s inaugural 2020 season, interrupted by the pandemic, Ta’amu demonstrated his dual-threat capabilities, combining for 316 yards of offense and four touchdowns in a single game. In 2022, he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Bandits of the USFL, leading the league in passing yards (2,014) and touchdowns (14). His success continued upon returning to the XFL with the DC Defenders, earning the XFL Offensive Player of the Year award in the 2023 season. In 2025, as a member of the DC Defenders in the United Football League (UFL), Ta’amu led the league in passing touchdowns with 17 and was named the UFL Championship Most Valuable Player after setting a UFL record with 390 passing yards and contributing 5 total touchdowns in a 58-34 victory over the Michigan Panthers.
