Tevaun Smith

Tevaun Smith was born on January 30, 1993, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His journey in football began early, leading him to play college football at the University of Iowa. During his four seasons with the Iowa Hawkeyes, Smith played in 47 games, recording 102 receptions for 1,500 yards and scoring seven touchdowns. His performance in college led to him being drafted 8th overall in the first round of the 2016 CFL draft by the Edmonton Eskimos, now known as the Edmonton Elks. Despite being drafted into the CFL, Smith first pursued a career in the NFL.

Smith signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2016. He spent time on their practice squad and had brief stints on the active roster. Following his time with the Colts, he was on the practice squads of the Oakland Raiders and the Jacksonville Jaguars through 2017 and 2018. In 2019, Smith returned to Canada and signed a two-year contract with the Edmonton Eskimos. In his first CFL season, he achieved 55 receptions for 632 yards and six touchdowns. He continued with the team through the 2021 season, catching 27 passes for 324 yards. In 2022, Smith joined the Ottawa Redblacks, playing eight games and making 14 receptions for 142 yards and two touchdowns. He extended his contract with the Redblacks for one year in 2023, playing 11 games with 8 receptions for 66 yards.

Beyond his athletic career, Smith has transitioned into roles as an entrepreneur and philanthropist. He engages with communities and shares insights from his experiences as a professional athlete. His work now includes motivational speaking, where he discusses topics such as life after professional sports and the importance of identifying personal purpose. Smith’s involvement in these areas demonstrates his commitment to growth and impact off the field.
