Josh Giddey is an Australian professional basketball player who has made a significant impact in the National Basketball League (NBL) and the NBA, known for his triple-double capabilities. After earning MVP honors at the Torneo Junior Ciutat de L’Hospitalet in Barcelona in January 2020 with the NBA Global Academy and being named an All-Star at the Basketball Without Borders camp during NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago the following month, Josh Giddey signed with the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League (NBL) on March 12, 2020, becoming the first Australian player in the leagues Next Stars program. Known for his exceptional triple-double capabilities, Giddey quickly made history, becoming the youngest Australian in NBL history to record a triple-double on April 26, 2021, with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. He followed this by becoming the first Australian to record consecutive triple-doubles on May 1, 2021, and achieved a third triple-double on May 9, 2021.
With the Bulls, Giddey continued to achieve significant milestones, including becoming the first player in NBA history to post a triple-double on 100% field-goal accuracy in under 25 minutes in 2024. That same year, he achieved multiple games with triple-doubles in a season, a feat also accomplished by Jimmy Butler in Bulls franchise history. In 2025, Giddey joined Michael Jordan as the only Bulls players in franchise history to have 5+ triple-doubles in a single season, and further solidified his impact by joining Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen as the only Bulls players to have seasons with at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 500 assists.
