Josh Morningstar is a poetic songwriter, singer and guitarist best known for his No.1 hit “Must Be The Whiskey”. Morningstar is originally from Funkstown, Maryland, and is one of the area’s most prominent country and folk musicians. Known for his musical storytelling and charm, he has collaborated with stars such as Kendell Marvel, Channing Wilson and Autumn McEntire, while also sharing the stage with the likes of Todd Snider, Shooter Jennings and Tyler Childers.
In 2018, Morningstar was approached by country musician Cody Jinks and asked to write for his upcoming Lifer album. The result, was the now hit single “Must Be The Whiskey”. The song became a No.1 hit as well as entering the Rolling Stone’s 10 Best Country and Americana Songs of the Week in June of 2018. The song has gone on to be an integral part of Jinks’ album. It is also one of Morningstar’s most loved songs from his 2018 album Plea, having accumulated over 200 thousand streams. The successful album also includes hits such as “Jerry Lee” with 455 thousand streams as well as “Damn These Birds” and “Sellout?”. These successes brought him to becoming the 2018 Texas Radio Songwriter of the Year.
His soulful and genuine tone has struck a chord in the country and folk music community, and made him a popular musician on his various tours. His most recent projects include the 2020 albums Brothers of the Music Vol.1 and Vol.2 as well as the single “We Were There”.
