Josie Lawrence is an English comedian and
actress, best known for her work as part of the Comedy Store Players
improvisational troupe, and the much-loved TV series Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Lawrence has also featured in the legendary UK soap opera Eastenders as Manda
Best, before playing Barbara, a synthetic marriage counsellor, in the Channel 4
TV series Humans.
A talented improvisational comedian,
Lawrence made her debut appearance in the long-running BBC Radio 4 show Just A
Minute in 2008, before starring in a number of hit radio series such as
Married, The Masterson Inheritance and Galton and Simpson. Her instantly
recognisable voice has been lent to several audiobooks, most of which are for
children. Next to her work on the comedy circuit, Lawrence has an extensive
filmography that takes in the likes of Finding Your Feet, Jonathon Creek and
Stella. She is also a popular guest on TV shows such as QI, The Wright Stuff
and The Paul O’Grady Show, and a hugely familiar face with the British public.
Lawrence has spent eight months walking
across China, Cuba and Peru for charity, raising over half a million pounds for
Breakthrough Breast Cancer. A dedicated humanitarian, she has completed a
sponsored climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, and is a regular supporter of the
National Autistic Society’s Make School Make Sense campaign. Lawrence continues
to take on high-profile radio and TV roles, further establishing herself as one
of Britain’s premiere comedic talents.
