Karolien Florijn commenced her decorated international rowing career in 2017, earning a silver medal at the European Rowing Championships in the Women’s Eight. She quickly followed this by securing her first World Championship medal, a bronze, in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls at the 2018 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv. In 2019, Florijn joined the Dutch coxless four, an elite crew that rapidly achieved significant success.
