Joy Williams

A four-time Grammy Award winner, Joy Williams has built a distinguished career as a singer-songwriter, both through her acclaimed solo work and as half of the folk rock duo, The Civil Wars. Securing a recording contract with Reunion Records, a subsidiary of Sony/BMG, Williams released three albums between 2001 and 2005, during which time she garnered 11 Dove Award nominations and sold over 250,000 records. Following her departure from Reunion Records in 2005, Williams broadened her musical scope, leading her to co-found Sensibility Music in 2008, an artist development firm. Through Sensibility Music, she released early solo EPs featuring songs like ‘Charmed Life,’ ‘Speaking a Dead Language,’ and ‘Sunny Day,’ which were prominently featured in the television show Grey’s Anatomy.

She also collaborated with Hayley Williams of Paramore on a new version of ‘Hate to See Your Heart Break.’ Williams launched her solo album, Venus, in 2015, followed by an acoustic version in 2016. That same year, she made her acting debut in an episode of Roadies, and her cover of The Chainsmokers’ ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ was featured in a State Farm commercial in 2017. Maintaining a prolific creative output, Williams recorded 15 songs over five days in 2018 while pregnant with her second child, with twelve of these recordings comprising her acclaimed 2019 album, Front Porch. Most recently in 2023, Williams reunited with John Paul White to re-record ‘Safe & Sound’ alongside Taylor Swift, with both artists receiving individual credits for their contribution to the track.
