Judah Friedlander

Judah Friedlander was born on March 16, 1969, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He began his journey in entertainment as a stand-up comedian in 1989 while attending New York University. His early career also saw him gaining recognition as ‘the hug guy’ in the 2001 Dave Matthews Band music video for ‘Everyday.’ This led to his role as Toby Radloff in the 2003 film ‘American Splendor,’ a performance that earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 2004 Independent Spirit Awards and positive critical reception.

Friedlander’s career progressed with numerous film appearances, including ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ (2001), ‘Meet the Parents’ (2000), ‘Zoolander’ (2001), and ‘Along Came Polly’ (2004). A significant turning point in his career was his role as Frank Rossitano in the NBC sitcom ’30 Rock,’ which he was a regular cast member of from 2006 to 2013, appearing in 119 episodes. During this time, he continued to perform stand-up comedy regularly in New York City. His stand-up persona often features him in a distinctive look, including oversized glasses and a trucker hat emblazoned with ‘World Champion’ slogans.

In addition to his acting and stand-up, Friedlander has ventured into writing and directing, notably with his 2017 Netflix special, ‘America Is the Greatest Country in the United States,’ which he also wrote and directed. His other television credits include guest roles in ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ ‘Flight of the Conchords,’ and ‘The Jim Gaffigan Show,’ as well as voice work in animated series like ‘Bob’s Burgers’ and ‘American Dad!’. He continues to be active in both stand-up and acting, maintaining his unique comedic style.
