Judy Torres is an American freestyle
artist and dance-pop singer dubbed by fans as the Queen of Freestyle. Despite
experiencing financial, physical, and social setbacks during her childhood in
The Bronx, Torres’ unwavering passion for singing eventually earned her a
record deal with Profile Records in 1987. Not long after, she released the
emotive debut album Love Story. The record
produced many successful love-themed singles, including ‘Come Into My Arms,’
which peaked at No 19 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs chart, and ‘No Reason
To Cry,’ which hit No 16.
Torres’ second studio album was equally
well-received, boasting hit singles ‘Every Little Lie,’ and ‘I Love You For All
Seasons.’ She’s since performed at world-famous
arenas such as Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden and completed
several international tours. Despite her overwhelming success as an artist,
Torres has continued to host a freestyle radio show on New York’s WKTU 103.5,
which has now been airing weekly for almost twenty years.
Torres has remained a relevant artist for
over three decades, following up her albums with a constant stream of
impressive singles such as ‘Faithfully,’ ‘Stay,’ and ‘Beautiful Life.’ Her 2008
release ‘Hell No’ is an inspirational anthem for abused women that saw her
return to the Hot Dance Club Songs chart at No 43. In addition to live shows
featuring all her best-loved hits, Torres is currently performing a one-woman,
autobiographical musical entitled No
Reason To Cry, in which she details her personal story of triumph over
adversity.
