Julia Morales Clark was born on April 12, 1985, in Crandall, Texas. She began her career in broadcasting after attending the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a degree in broadcast journalism. Prior to her university studies, Morales was a member of the Kilgore College Rangerettes for two years. During her time at the University of Texas, she was also part of the Texas Pom spirit group, experiencing the Longhorns’ national championship win in Pasadena in 2006 from the sidelines.
Morales started her television career at KTEN-TV in Denison, Texas, then moved to KYTX CBS 19 in Tyler, Texas, as a weekend sports anchor and reporter. Subsequently, she joined Time Warner Cable News (formerly YNN) in Austin, where she covered significant sporting events such as the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, World Series, and College Baseball World Series. This early experience in diverse sports reporting laid the foundation for her extensive career. Her reporting skills eventually led her to Houston, where she became a prominent figure in sports media.
Since joining the Houston Astros broadcast team in 2013, Morales has become a key field reporter and host for pre and post-game shows for Space City Home Network (formerly AT&T Sportsnet Southwest). Her work has included covering the Astros’ 2017 World Series victory. A significant career milestone occurred on May 13, 2024, when she and Jenny Cavnar made history as the first two women to simultaneously serve as play-by-play television announcers for the same Major League Baseball game, broadcasting the Houston Astros versus the Oakland Athletics. Beyond her on-air roles, Morales is actively involved in community work, serving on the Board of Directors for Houston Pets Alive! and speaking to journalism students. She also launched her own line of baseball-themed apparel.
