With roles in series such as Pretty Little Liars, Once Upon a Time, Hand of God, and New Girl, English actor Julian Morris has placed himself at the heart of modern American television. He has also achieved plenty of success in his home country, most notable in the International Emmy-winning BBC television film The Man in the Orange Shirt. On the big screen, he has starred in a diverse range of films, but with an emphasis on horror, most notably in the likes of Cry Wolf, Something Wicked, and Donkey Punch.
Morris was born in London in 1983. He began working on British television as a teenager, getting his initial break playing a young drug peddler in The Knock, a hard-hitting ITV drama about the work of customs officers. He continued to develop his career with a range of TV, commercial, and music video appearances (including the clip for Sugababes’ 2002 number-one hit ‘Freak Like Me’). He also spent three seasons with the world-renowned Royal Shakespeare Company, gaining experience on the stage as well as the screen. In 2005, he made a successful debut in the United States, co-starring with rock legend Jon Bovi in Cry Wolf, a horror film that made an incredible $32 million against a $1 million budget.
From then on, Morris focused largely on American work, taking recurring roles in the likes of ER and 24. His first major US TV role was playing Dr Wren Kingston in ABC teen drama Pretty Little Liars, a hugely popular show that cleaned up at the Teen Choice Awards year after year. With roles in recent series such as The Good Fight and The Morning Show, Morris is still moving forward with his transatlantically successful career.
