Dominique Raheem Mostert was born on April 9, 1992, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He attended New Smyrna Beach High School, where he excelled in both football and track and field. During his high school football career, Mostert returned nine kickoffs and one punt for touchdowns, alongside recording 39 receptions for 723 yards and four touchdowns as a senior. His performance earned him the MVP title at the 2010 Central Florida All-Star Game. Mostert continued his athletic pursuits at Purdue University, where he received a full scholarship. In his freshman year in 2011, he set a school record with an average of 33.5 yards per return, highlighted by a 99-yard touchdown return in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. He also led the nation in average yards per return that year, with 206 yards on five kickoff returns against Wisconsin, breaking a 42-year-old school record.
Mostert’s professional career began in 2015 after going undrafted, signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite leading the NFL in preseason scrimmage yards with 348, he was released and had a challenging start, moving between several teams including the Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, and Chicago Bears during his first two NFL seasons. In 2016, he found a more stable role with the San Francisco 49ers. A significant turning point came in the 2019 season when he signed a three-year contract extension. That year, he recorded 772 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, along with 180 receiving yards and two touchdowns. His standout performance in the 2019 NFC Championship Game saw him rush for a franchise postseason record of 220 yards and four touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers, leading the 49ers to Super Bowl LIV.
Mostert returned to the Miami Dolphins in 2022, signing a one-year contract, and continued to succeed. In the 2023 season, he further cemented his status by signing a two-year, $5.6 million contract extension. He led the NFL in total touchdowns (rushing and receiving) with 21, earning his first Pro Bowl selection. Mostert broke the Dolphins’ franchise record for most touchdowns in a single regular season, demonstrating his consistency and impact. In March 2025, Mostert signed with the Las Vegas Raiders.
