Julianna Margulies

Julianna Margulies is an acclaimed actress recognized for her impactful roles in television series such as “ER” and “The Good Wife,” alongside her work in film and theatre. After achieving significant recognition in 1994 with her role as Carol Hathaway in the NBC medical drama ER, Julianna Margulies established herself as an acclaimed actress. Her character, originally intended to die in the pilot, was made a series regular due to overwhelming audience response. Margulies remained a core cast member for six seasons, from 1994 to 2000, and returned for a guest appearance in the final season in 2009.

Her performance on ER earned her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 1994, and multiple Emmy and four Golden Globe Award nominations. Prior to ER, Margulies made her feature film debut in Out for Justice (1991) and appeared in regional theatre and national commercials. Following her tenure on ER, Margulies diversified her career across stage and screen. She appeared in theatrical productions including Intrigue With Faye, Ten Unknowns, and The Vagina Monologues.

Her voiceover work includes a Chase credit card commercial campaign (since 2013) and narrating ‘Women in Business’ for Makers: Women Who Make America (2014). Beyond acting, Margulies is an accomplished author and dedicated philanthropist. She published the children’s book Three Magic Balloons in 2016, followed by her autobiography, Sunshine Girl: An Unexpected Life, in 2021. She serves on the board of the MCC Theater Company in New York City and advocates for causes such as Project ALS and human rights.

She also supports Holocaust education through the Museum of Jewish Heritage’s Holocaust Educator School Partnership. Her commitment to impactful roles and social advocacy continues with her return to Broadway in Left on Tenth in 2024.
