Karrueche Tran, born on May 17, 1988, in Los Angeles, California, is an American socialite, actress, and entrepreneur. Raised by her Vietnamese mother and Jamaican godmother, Tran worked at Nordstrom from 2009 to 2012 before gaining public recognition through her relationship with R&B singer Chris Brown, which brought increased media attention to her modeling career. She began modeling for local brands and launched her own clothing line, The Kill. Her career progressed with her role as Vivian Johnson in the Emmy-award-winning web series “The Bay” (2013–2016), for which she earned three Daytime Emmy Awards for producing credits, and one Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actress in a Daytime Fiction Program in 2021, making her the first person of Asian Pacific American descent to win an Emmy in that category. She has since expanded her career into various acting roles, securing significant positions in film and television.
Tran’s acting career expanded with her first featured film, “3-Headed Shark Attack,” released in 2015, followed by the short film “PrXde.” She gained further recognition for her performance as Vanessa Ivy in the StyleHaul web series “Vanity.” In 2016, she appeared in films such as “A Weekend with the Family,” “The Nice Guys,” and the lead role in “Only for One Night.” A turning point in her career came with her co-starring role as Virginia Loc in TNT’s “Claws” (2017–2022), a series that further established her as an actress.
