Kate Berlant

Kate Berlant is a comedian, actress, and writer known for her unique surrealist and absurdist comedic style. After being named one of Comedy Central’s Top Ten Comics to Watch in 2013 and a New Face at the 2014 Montreal Comedy Festival, Kate Berlant went on to establish herself as a notable figure in experimental comedy. Her unique surrealist and absurdist style first gained widespread recognition through stand-up performances on prominent platforms including ‘The Tonight Show’ and ‘The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail.’ Berlant also featured in numerous festivals such as SXSW, the New York Comedy Festival, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, Moontower, San Francisco Sketchfest, and the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, following her early television debut in a 2002 episode of ‘Lizzie McGuire.’ Berlant expanded her versatile career with a starring role in Netflix’s ‘The Characters’ in 2016, and co-created the acclaimed Vimeo original series ‘555’ with John Early in 2017. Her comedic talent was further showcased when she won the American version of ‘Taskmaster’ in 2018.

Demonstrating her continued influence in audio comedy, she also launched a new independent podcast, ‘Berlant & Novak,’ alongside Jacqueline Novak in 2024.
