They call her “Blue Diamond,” and she spins with the best of them in the male-dominated field of DJing. DJ Blue Diamond was born in Brooklyn New York and is of Dominican and Lebanese descent. She first became interested in music with her love of choreography, and being raised in Brooklyn played a major role in impacting her background in urban music and dance. She went on to study ballet and gymnastics during the summers she spent with her father in the Dominican Republic. She soon began her career in the hip-hop music industry. She began modeling professionally when she was 19 years old, doing videos for musicians such as 50 Cent, French Montana, Yo Gotti, and others.
Blue Diamond has opted to move from model to female DJ, with the goal of expanding her reach beyond the urban market into the EDM (electronic dance music) realm. You may have seen her as “Chinese Kitty” or “6ixnine’s” DJ in the music industry. Blue Diamond, on the other hand, hopes to be the next female DJ Khaled, spinning a wider variety of songs. Her ambition knows no bounds. Her goal is to change the way women are viewed and respected in a male-dominated industry with a number of projects, in what she calls Jadiville. Check out all things DJ Blue Diamond on her Instagram where she boasts over a quarter of a million fans and followers.
