Kate Walsh began her career in regional theater and Off-Broadway productions, achieving widespread recognition for her television roles, particularly in medical dramas and streaming series. After gaining early recognition as Niki Fifer in ‘The Drew Carey Show’ in 1995, Kate Walsh went on to establish a versatile career across television, film, and theater. Her early professional development included work with the Piven Theatre Workshop and the Chicago Shakespeare Repertory, performing in Off-Broadway plays with the comedy troupe ‘Burn Manhattan’, and appearing in National Public Radio productions such as the radio play ‘Born Guilty.’ Following this, Walsh portrayed a romantic interest in Norm MacDonald’s sitcom ‘Norm’ starting in 1999 and played Carol Nelson in HBO’s ‘The Mind of the Married Man’ in 2001. A significant turning point in Walsh’s career arrived with her iconic role as Dr.

She later joined the cast of Netflix’s Emmy-nominated series ‘Emily in Paris’ as Madeline, appearing from 2020 to 2022. Additionally, she captivated audiences as The Handler in the hit Netflix series ‘The Umbrella Academy,’ a role she played from its debut in 2019 through to 2024. In 2022, Walsh starred as Paula Tackleberry in the comedy series ‘Sprung.’ Beyond her extensive acting career, Walsh has also taken on production roles, serving as an executive producer for the television series ‘Bad Judge’ from 2014 to 2015, and most recently for ‘The Runt,’ slated for 2024. Demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit, she founded Boyfriend Perfume in 2010, a lifestyle brand offering perfumes, candles, and pulse point oils.

The brand successfully relaunched as a direct-to-consumer model in 2018, showcasing her diverse talents beyond performance.
