Katie McGlynn

Katie Louise McGlynn was born on July 16, 1993, in Rochdale, Lancashire, England, UK. She attended Wardle High School, where she pursued A-levels in drama, English literature, and media studies. Her acting career began in 2010 with a role as Gemma Gooch in an episode of ‘Moving On.’ Her career progressed significantly in 2011 when she joined the cast of the BBC school drama ‘Waterloo Road’ as Jodie ‘Scout’ Allen, a role she held until 2013.

Following her time on ‘Waterloo Road,’ McGlynn secured a role in the ITV soap opera ‘Coronation Street’ as Sinead Tinker in 2013. She played this character for six years, receiving critical acclaim for her portrayal, particularly in a powerful storyline where her character died from cervical cancer in October 2019. Her performance earned her the Best Serial Drama Performance award at the 25th National Television Awards in 2020. In 2021, she joined another Channel 4 soap opera, ‘Hollyoaks,’ as Becky Quentin, departing in February 2022.

Beyond her regular soap roles, McGlynn participated in the nineteenth series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2021, partnered with Gorka Márquez. She was the second celebrity to be eliminated in week 3. Her career also includes appearances in ‘The Syndicate’ in 2021 and ‘Leonardo’ in 2012. She continues to be an active actress, known for her diverse television roles.
