Katie McGlynn is a British actress who is well known for the roles she has played in television dramas. She was born in Rochdale, Greater Manchester and went to Rochdale’s Wardle High School and studied for A-Levels. She then moved on to study acting at the Carol Goodbury Theatre Workshop in Manchester.
When she was eighteen, McGlynn first appeared on television in the drama ‘Waterloo Road’ playing the character of Jodie ‘Scout’ Allen. She then had a long running role as ‘Sinead Tinker’ in ‘Coronation Street’ (2013 – 2020). The character she was playing Sinead died and the final scenes were said to be heart breaking. For her portrayal of Sinead McGlynn got ‘Best Serial Drama Performance Award’ at January’s ‘National Television Awards’.
Before winning this award she had previously been listed for a variety of awards, showing that critics and fans alike had noted the quality of her work.
McGlynn is now working on ‘The Syndicate’ in Yorkshire. This is about members of a betting syndicate as they win the lottery. Syndicate writer Kay Mellor gave her work in this production after seeing her on Coronation Street.
