Dermatologist and entrepreneur Katie Rodan is the co-founder of skincare brand Rodan + Fields and the co-creator of the Proactiv acne management system. Listed as one of the 50 most successful self-made women in the USA by Forbes in 2015, she is a billionaire and operates her own private cosmetic dermatology practice based in Oakland, California. Today, her skin care company with Fields represents everything she stands for with her business partner – self-made success, their bubbly personalities, a close bond and clear, foundation-free skin. Rodan has appeared frequently in the media in the likes of Women’s Health, Fox Business News, Allure, Shape and Cosmopolitan.

Raised in Los Angeles, Rodan was born Katie Pregerson and met Fields at Stanford University School of Medicine during their dermatology residency. The pair bonded over their fashion sense and quickly solidified their friendship as they studied for their exams. Staying friends after they began their careers at dermatology practices, Fields was the first person she called when she had the idea of creating an acne product that she could prescribe to her patients. After spotting a gap in the skin care market, the duo used their dermatological expertise to create Proactive, which went on to bring in a reported $1 billion in sales in 2015 to beauty company Guthy-Renker, thanks to celebrity endorsements from the likes of Vanessa Williams and Justin Bieber.
