Katie Rodan, born Katie Pregerson in 1955 or 1956, is an American dermatologist, entrepreneur, and author. She earned her undergraduate degree in history from the University of Virginia and her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Southern California School of Medicine. She completed her internship at Los Angeles County Hospital and her dermatology residency at Stanford University School of Medicine in 1987, where she was appointed chief resident. Rodan met Kathy A. Fields during their residency, leading to a long-standing professional partnership with substantial impact on the skincare market.
In 1995, Rodan and Fields co-developed Proactiv Solution, an acne management system. Their initial involvement granted them 15% royalties, before they were later bought out for $50 million each. Building on this success, they launched Rodan + Fields in 2002. Estée Lauder acquired Rodan + Fields in 2003, but Rodan and Fields repurchased the brand in 2007.
