Kayla Ewell

Kayla Noelle Ewell was born in Long Beach, California, on August 27, 1985, and grew up in Seal Beach. Her performing career began at a young age, touring with the national Broadway company children’s chorus for “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” in the fourth grade. She further honed her skills in dance, singing, and acting at the Orange County Song & Dance Company. By 1999, a talent agent discovered her, leading to early guest roles while she continued her education, graduating from Los Alamitos High School in 2003.

Ewell’s breakthrough came with recurring roles in critically acclaimed television series, including “Freaks and Geeks” in 2000 and two years on the CBS soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2004-2005) as Caitlin Ramirez. She made guest appearances across various popular TV shows such as “The O.C.,” “Boston Public,” “Veronica Mars,” “Close to Home,” and “Entourage.” Her film credits include supporting roles in “Just My Luck” (2006) alongside Lindsay Lohan and “Material Girls” (2006) with Hilary and Haylie Duff. A significant role was her co-starring performance as Vicki Donovan in The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” (2009-2017), a character she described as a “troublemaker” who became the first human in the series to be turned into a vampire. Though her character was initially killed off, she returned for several episodes across different seasons.

Her career continued with roles in Hallmark Channel TV movies, including “Keeping Up with the Randalls” (2011) and “A Way Back Home” (2013), where she played a country music singer and songwriter. She also explored the horror genre with “The Demented” (2013) and starred in the Lifetime movie “Deadly Daycare” (2014). Recent television work includes “Roswell, New Mexico” (2019-2022) as Nora Truman and a guest appearance as Nocturna in “Batwoman” (2020), as well as roles in “The Rookie” (2022) and “9-1-1” (2023). Beyond acting, Ewell has also served as an associate producer for the short film “Clandestine Dynasty” (2016) and performed the song “The First Time” for the soundtrack of “A Way Back Home” (2013).
