Kei Nishikori

Kei Nishikori is a professional tennis player from Japan, recognized for his consistent performance and significant milestones in the sport. After reaching his first ATP quarterfinal at the Indianapolis Tennis Championships in 2007, becoming the youngest player to do so since Boris Becker in 1985, Kei Nishikori established his professional career. Turning professional in 2007, he secured his maiden ATP title in 2008 at the Delray Beach tournament, making him the first Japanese man in nearly 16 years to win an ATP event. That same year, Nishikori made his US Open debut, advancing to the round of 16, a feat not achieved by a Japanese player in 71 years, and was subsequently named ATP Newcomer of the Year.

His ascent continued with a Masters 1000 semifinal appearance at the Shanghai Masters in 2011, a year that also saw him defeat then-World No. 1 Novak Djokovic at the Swiss Indoors Basel. Nishikori reached his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the Australian Open in 2012, claimed the title at the Rakuten Japan Open, and in 2013, won the U.S. National Indoor Championships and secured a notable victory against Roger Federer at the Madrid Open.

After an injury layoff, his 2023 comeback included an ATP Challenger title at the Caribbean Open. His return continued into 2024, reaching a Masters quarterfinal at the National Bank Open and another quarterfinal at the Japan Open Tennis Championships. In 2025, Nishikori reached the Hong Kong Open final, recorded his 300th hardcourt career win in February, and his 450th career win in April, becoming the first Asian player to achieve this milestone.
