Kellie Martin

Kellie Noelle Martin was born on October 16, 1975, in Riverside, California. Her parents were Doug Martin, a retail executive, and Debbie Jett, a kindergarten teacher. Martin began her acting career at the age of seven in 1982, securing a guest role in the Western series “Father Murphy” with assistance from an aunt who was an employee of actor Michael Landon. This early start led to various guest appearances in popular television series such as “Dallas,” “Life with Lucy,” and “My Two Dads.” She also entered voice acting, notably as Lolly in “Potato Head Kids” (1986-1987) and as Daphne Blake in “A Pup Named Scooby-Doo” (1988-1991), where she portrayed a younger, more sarcastic version of the character.

Martin’s career progressed with significant roles in live-action television. She gained recognition for her portrayal of Rebecca “Becca” Thatcher in the drama series “Life Goes On” (1989-1993), a role that explored the challenges of a socially awkward and intelligent teenager. She later starred as Christy Huddleston in “Christy” (1994-1995), a period series focusing on a schoolteacher in a rural Tennessee community. In 1998, Martin joined the cast of the medical drama “ER” as medical student Lucy Knight, a role that ended dramatically in 2000. She temporarily paused her acting career to complete her art history degree at Yale University in 2001. Upon her return, she led the “Mystery Woman” film series (2003-2007) as Samantha Kinsey and the “Hailey Dean Mysteries” (2016-2019) as Hailey Dean, a retired prosecutor turned therapist.

Beyond acting, Martin has expanded into directing, with credits including two “Mystery Woman” films and “Mistletoe in Montana” (2021). She has also served as an executive producer on several projects within the “Hailey Dean Mysteries” and “Emma Fielding Mysteries” series. In a personal pivot, Martin purchased and operates an online toy store. She is also the national spokesperson for Lupus, a role she took on after her younger sister passed away from the disease. Martin continues to balance her professional endeavors with her family life, having two daughters with her husband, Keith Christian.
