Beautiful actress and model Kelly Lynch is best known for her roles in the cult movies Road House, and Drugstore Cowboy, and for the hit Showtime drama series, The L Word. She famously turned down the part of Catherine Tramell in 1992’s Basic Instinct, which eventually went to Sharon Stone.
Lynch was born and raised in Minnesota. She later attended the Guthrie Theater Drama School at the world renowned Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, where she studied under Sanford Meisner, one of the most respected and influential acting teachers of the 20th-century. She worked as a flight attendant before becoming a model, after being discovered in an elevator. She appeared in several small parts in film and TV shows like The Equalizer, and Miami Vice, before getting her breakthrough role in the Tom Cruise movie, Cocktail, in 1988. The following year she appeared opposite Patrick Swayze in the action film, Road House, and was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead for her powerful performance in Gus Van Sant’s crime drama, Drugstore Cowboy. She has since featured in a number of movies and TV shows, including Desperate Hours with Mickey Rourke and Anthony Hopkins, Heaven’s Prisoners alongside Alec Baldwin, Charlie’s Angels with Drew Barrymore, in The CW teen soap, 90210, and in Mr Mercedes, the TV crime drama based on the novel trilogy by Stephen King.
