Born on January 31, 1959, in Golden Valley, Minnesota, Kelly Lynch began her acting journey with a small role at the Guthrie Theater. She furthered her training under acting teacher Sanford Meisner and also achieved recognition as a model for the Elite Modeling Agency. Her career breakthrough arrived with the 1988 film “Cocktail,” and she quickly gained further acclaim with her role in Gus Van Sant’s “Drugstore Cowboy” in 1989, which earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Female Lead. In the same year, she starred opposite Patrick Swayze in “Road House.”

Lynch continued to build a diverse filmography throughout the 1990s and 2000s, embracing both independent films and major Hollywood productions. Notable appearances include “Curly Sue” (1991), “Three of Hearts” (1993), and “Mr. Magoo” (1997). She received a second Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Female for her work in “The Beans of Egypt, Maine” (1994).
