Kelsey Robinson Cook, born Kelsey Marie Robinson on June 25, 1992, in Elmhurst, Illinois, developed her passion for volleyball early, starting indoor club volleyball at age 10. She graduated from St. Francis High School in 2010, where she was a three-year starter and two-year captain, becoming the school’s all-time leader in kills with 1,122. Her collegiate career began at the University of Tennessee, playing for three years and earning the SEC Player of the Year award in 2011. She then transferred to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln for her senior year, where she was named the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2013 and an AVCA First-Team All-American. During her senior year, she led the Huskers in kills and aces, totaling 530 kills and 396 digs, and was one of only two players in major conferences to lead her team in both kills and digs, and the only one to lead in kills, digs, and service aces for most of the season. She made her U.S. Women’s National Team debut in 2014, winning a silver medal at the Montreux Volley Masters.
Robinson Cook’s professional career spans multiple international leagues, including stints in China with Beijing (2014-2015, 2016-2017) and Guangdong Evergrande (2020-2021), Puerto Rico with Leonas de Ponce (2015), Italy with Imoco Volley Conegliano (2015-2016, 2017, 2022-2024), and Turkey with Vakıfbank Istanbul (2017-2019) and Fenerbahçe (2019-2020, 2021). She also played in Japan for Toyota Auto Body Queenseis (2021) and is currently with LOVB Atlanta (2024–present) and Jakarta Electric PLN (2024-2025).
Her international career with the U.S. National Team is marked by significant achievements, including a gold medal at the 2014 FIVB World Championship, a bronze at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, and a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. She also earned a silver medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Robinson Cook has consistently been recognized for her individual performance, receiving awards such as “Best Outside Spiker” at the 2016–17 CEV Champions League and “Best Outside Hitter” at the 2019 FIVB World Cup. Beyond the court, she has developed a YouTube channel documenting her life as a pro athlete overseas, a website focusing on travel, food, and leisure, and a clothing line named By The Sun, showcasing her interests beyond volleyball.
