Kenneth Lee Lattimore was born on April 10, 1970, in Washington, D.C. His musical interest developed early, nurtured through singing in school and church choirs, including the band program at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland. He later attended Howard University. Lattimore began his career as a session vocalist for the R&B group Maniquin, eventually becoming their lead singer. Maniquin released their self-titled album in 1989 on Epic Records, featuring the single “I Wanna Ride.” Lattimore then pursued a solo career, leading to the group’s disbandment.

In late 1994, Lattimore signed with Columbia Records, releasing his debut album, “Kenny Lattimore,” in 1996. The album included the Top 20 hits “Never Too Busy” and the Grammy-nominated track “For You.” This debut earned him the Best New Artist award at the NAACP Image Awards in 1996 and achieved Gold sales status. He continued to build his career with “From the Soul of Man” in 1998, which featured “Days Like This,” “If I Lose My Woman,” and a cover of The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” After a brief break, he signed with Arista Records, releasing “Weekend” in 2001, an album that gained radio popularity with its title track sampling Blondie’s “Rapture.”

Lattimore expanded his musical endeavors through collaborations, notably with his then-wife Chante Moore. They released “Things That Lovers Do” in 2003, comprising classic soul songs and new original tracks, followed by “Uncovered/Covered” in 2006. The latter reached number ten on the Billboard R&B Charts and number two on the Billboard Gospel Charts, with their cover of “You’re All I Need to Get By” serving as the theme for BET’s “The Family Crews.” In 2012, Lattimore founded his own record company, SincereSoul Records, releasing “Back 2 Cool” in 2013. In 2024, Kenny Lattimore was inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame, recognizing his sustained contributions to R&B music.
