Kevin Hitchcock was a professional football player who made close to 300 appearances for teams across the Football Leagues and Premier Leagues in England. He was born in Canning Town in England and his position in football was solely as a goalkeeper.
His career started out by him featuring in Chelsea’s youth system. Kevin then went on to join Nottingham Forest where he spent most of him time on loan at Mansfield, whom he eventually joined in 1984. His four-year spell at the club saw them gain promotion and silverware in the form of the 1987 Football League Trophy.
He would make his move to the Premiership in 1988 for a staggering £250,00 fee and would remain at the club for the next 11 years eventually playing his last game for them in 1999. During most of him time at Chelsea, Kevin’s playtime was heavily impaired by a string of injuries meaning he only made 96 appearances in those 11 years. After leaving Chelsea in 2001, he would start his coaching career by becoming goalkeeping coach at Premier League side Watford. Hitchcock would go on to be goalkeeping coach at Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Westham, Fulham, Queens park Rangers and Birmingham. In 2018 he moved to India to become coach at Chennaiyin FC before flying over to the states to become goalkeeping coach at New England Revolution in April 2019 where he remains today.
