Kevin Mccloud

Kevin McCloud is a British designer, writer, and television presenter, best known for hosting the Channel 4 series “Grand Designs” since its inception in 1999. After establishing a successful career as a theatre designer and lighting specialist, Kevin McCloud gained widespread recognition as the writer and presenter of Channel 4’s ‘Grand Designs’ since its inception in 1999. Early in his career, McCloud founded ‘McCloud Lighting,’ a manufacturing business and design practice that employed 26 individuals at its peak. His notable projects included the rococo-style vegetable ceiling at Harrods food halls and complex lighting installations at historical sites such as Ely Cathedral, Edinburgh Castle, the Savoy Hotel, and the Dorchester Hotel.

He presented ‘Escape to the Wild’ in 2015. Maintaining his dedication to thoughtful design, McCloud presented ‘Kevin McCloud’s Rough Guide to the Future’ and narrated ‘Celebrity Snoop Dogs’ in 2020. That same year, he revisited the ‘Grand Designs’ North Devon lighthouse build in 2022. He holds honorary degrees as Doctor of Design from Oxford Brookes University (2005) and Plymouth University (2005), and an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Institute of British Architects (2006) and the Society of Light & Lighting (SLL) (2009), underscoring his influence and expertise in design and architecture.
